You have to use your time to create happy memories

It is all you haveThe meaning of life is to create as many memories as possible so any time you find happiness in any activity is time you will remember. These will be the happy memories you will cherish as you age.

Work time: You will spend a great deal of your time at work, there’s a good possibility you will not create too many memories there, you may have some memories of the people you worked with but that’s all. You don’t hear old people saying, “I earned a good week’s wages that week.”

Wasted time: Everybody will waste some of their time doing nothing while time passes them by. If they manage to think about nothing during those times we’ll call it meditation so that’s not time wasted either. If they fret about the past or future during those times, now, that’s time wasted.

Sleep time: You’ll also spend approximately one third of your life asleep. Unusual dreams do come up in conversation from time to time but they’re something we normally keep to ourselves.

Pastime: Everybody needs a pastime, they need some activity they enjoy to get them out of their normal everyday existence. It’s these times they will talk about endlessly with their friends as they age, the stories will get exaggerated with time, not because they need the stories to get better, they just won’t remember the story as it happened originally.

Family time: If you’re lucky enough to be brought up in a big family, you will have an abundance of things to remember, normally at the expense of your siblings. I remember one of my brothers ran away from home one afternoon, he was found wandering around the attic a few hours later. When you have your own family you will create a whole new set of memories.

Secret time: If you’re fortunate to live an interesting life, you will create a number of memories you’ll share with nobody, however, every time you think of them they will make you smile.

I’ll leave you with a couple of interesting quotes about time I found:

  • “You’ve got to spend time creating happy memories when you’re younger, if you don’t, you’ll have nothing to smile about when you stop creating memories.” ~Anon
  • “Time is the most valuable commodity you control, however you control is limited because you have no idea how much time you were given to use.” ~Anon
  • “How did it get so late so soon?” ~Dr. Seuss.
