Twitter is only beneficial to a business if they are interacting with customers or potential customers. If you go online and follow people without a strategy you are basically wasting your or your company’s time and money. There is no secret strategy, you profile your customer and then use the hash tags to identify those interested in discussing the topic. You will be able to judge whether or not to follow someone based on their profile. I like to use the following to profile my potential customers:
P.I.N.T is profiling your customer’s or clients, identifying their interests, notifying them we would like to get to know them and then talking to them.
- Profile: Talk to your customers, it is the only way by which you will be able to attract more of the same. By building up your business relationship; interacting on a regular basis, you learn what similarities your customers or clients have? This is the most important part of finding the followers you desire and deserve.
- Interest: Once you have identified the similar interests of the people you wish to follow you, Put the words that describe the interest along with the #hashtag symbol in twitters search engine. The result will show you the tweets discussing the topic, and on the left hand side of the page you will see the option to see the people discussing the topic. Now you are ready to move onto the next part of our recreational pint.
- Notify: The first step is to follow them; this can have the knee jerk reaction of them following you back, if this doesn’t happen? You will have to do it slowly by monitoring their tweets and retweeting some of their tweets, if you retweet everything they tweet even the mediocre stuff they might see you as a stalker so only retweet their good tweets.
- Talk: When the people who you are interested in, follow you; the first step is to introduce yourself via a tweet, this shouldn’t be a sales message, the message should go along the lines of; “Hello John, it’s great to connect with you here on Twitter, I look forward to reading your tweets” it’s a good idea to take the time to personalise the message as this will make a better first impression.
Relationships formed on twitter can hugely beneficial to everyone, business and personal alike, find the right people with whom you wish to share your knowledge, and they will share what they know with you!
Building relationships is important for every business.
Till next time, I hope you have a great week
